“5 Reasons Why” The NEW Stewards of Children®: Updated Platform and User Experience
#5: It Has an Updated Platform and User Experience | The user experience is an important part of delivering education that is well received and acted upon. Through technology updates and training best practice enhancements, the NEW Stewards of Children® delivers a better experience for all.

Defining the User Experience
Whether you have taken Stewards of Children® before, or the NEW Stewards of Children® is the first time you have participated in the training, the user experience is key. It connects you from the important content of the training to the intended outcome of creating a prevention-oriented community.
The Authorized Facilitator is there to guide you through your user experience and engage you in conversations that create a personal connection with the curriculum. Your journey continues as you experience shorter video clips that make the learning objectives easier to retain because it reduces the cognitive load of the adult learner and allows you to more carefully and intentionally absorb the information you are learning.
There is no host this time, but rather a narrator. This purposeful choice allows participants to receive occasional breaks in the information and allows for time to process what they are taking in. You will find there are more opportunities for discussion. This allows participants to reinforce key concepts and assists in moving the topic forward.
Technology Updates
The NEW Stewards of Children® has connected us with a new videographer who utilized the latest technology including updated resolutions, smoother transitions from interview to interview and less ambient noise.
Multiple Users’ Journey
During the video portions, you will also notice it is easier to read the words on the screen. The fonts and contrasting colors are purposefully chosen to assist those with low vision. Everything that appears on screen is also read for those who may need to look away from the videos or for those in which English is not their first language.
Over the course of the next year, you will also find the NEW Stewards of Children® released in an asynchronous version as well as a Spanish version. Closed captioning is available in the April 2023 release.
The NEW Stewards of Children® will still utilize a workbook. However, it will be more accessible for all participants and include more applied learning and samples of policies and documents that will help you create your prevention-oriented community. The Learning Journey
The NEW Stewards of Children® will also be followed by additional trainings. During the process of creating the training, over one hundred hours of video interviews were coded with key words. Our research and curriculum team are now able to analyze that data and determine what additional trainings will be beneficial for our participants.
Participants will find that their learning journey with Darkness to Light will not begin and end with Stewards of Children.® They will soon be able to build upon the foundation that is Stewards of Children® and continue with trainings that delve into topics that are created for specific audiences in order to expand their prevention knowledge base.
